How did the Alfa Romeo Stelvio get the name?
Clearly this new luxury and sporty SUV / Crossover from Alfa was named after Italy’s Stelvio Pass, a more than 9,000 feet above sea level roadway, housing more than 40 hairpin corners when heading up or down the North-side of the Pass. Further it is considered one of the best roads to drive on in the world. And because the Stelvio will be considered the ultimate Sport SUV, to find this name was a given. And, it is a perfect fit since we have so many beautiful, winding roads around Seattle, Tacoma and Mountain regions here in Washington, Portland, Oregon and Idaho.
Three Stelvio Models down the road
Based on the platform of the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia, the Stelvio will come in 3 model variations

Stelvio and Stelvio Ti will come with a 2.0-liter, inline-four-cylinder aggregate, producing 280 turbocharged horsepower. The high performance Stelvio Quadrifoglio will utilize 505-hp, which will be generated out a 2.9-liter V-6-cylinder turbocharged engine – the same power aggregate for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, who by the way will arrive late December 2016/Early January 2017 here at the PNW’s Number 1 Alfa Romeo Studio in Tacoma, WA.
With the use of Aluminum in the construction the Stelvio is very light, which will result in extraordinary performance.
A smaller engine -sized Stelvio and Stelvio Ti will mirror the performance of the Alfa Romeo Giulia. As the Giulia, both models also provide an 8-speed automatic transmission and the 280-hp will push the SUVs with 306 lb-ft of torque forward (so does the Giulia).
